Research summary
Breathing is a fundamental vital sign for everyone, and how a person breathes can be an important sign of a person’s respiratory health and wellbeing. But there is a lack of objective and reliable tools available that can do this, with existing tools being hard to use, inconvenient for long-term use at home, or giving inaccurate measurements. In this study, we seek to study the performance of a new respiratory monitoring device designed for use in the home. This will be compared to the current gold-standard tools for respiratory monitoring, comprising a wearable sleep kit. The novel device is totally passive and non-contact and designed to be very convenient and easy to use for long-term home monitoring. In this study, we will be recruiting healthy participants across the whole age spectrum (from pre-school children to the elderly).
