Research summary
This project aims to demonstrate the benefits of high quality hip fracture rehabilitation pathways, as follow up to recent project undertaken by the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA).Two parts of the project will be undertaken in parallel:
•Production of clinical best practice guidance (not relevant to this HRA application)
•quantitative and economic evidence to support high quality rehabilitation pathways. The economic evaluation requires an initial feasibility assessment with a view to producing:
• an analysis of NHFD 2015 aggregate/service level and patient level data, later combined with local data from four local services
• Case studies with economic evaluation of four high quality hip fracture rehabilitation services which include full seven day services, integrated pathways, and early and intense rehabilitation including a falls prevention element
