Data collection arrangements
The samples and data in the Biobank are from radiotherapy patients recruited into the REQUITE project. The project recruited in several hospitals in the UK as well as others in the EU and US. Informed consent of the participants was recorded and includes future use of their samples and data for research. The samples consist of whole blood, plasma, DNA and RNA. The data includes details of the participants' cancer treatment, medical history, medical imaging (CT scans and photographs), genetic markers and quality-of-life questionnaires.
Research programme
The REQUITE biobank and database is from patients treated by radiotherapy for breast, prostate or lung cancer. It provides a valuable resource for researchers working in the field of radiotherapy research, particularly those seeking to understand and predict side effects of treatment. The resource is internationally important and will be utilised by scientists and doctors in both academic research and companies that are aiming to optimise radiotherapy delivery by increasing tumour control while minimising side effects.
