Research summary
This project is a bid in response to the tender GC004-13 Repeat Abortions in Grampian invited by Sexual Health and BBV MCN, NHS Grampian. The research brief is for an investigation into the determinant factors for repeat abortion. The methodology would use systematic review of the published literature to assess the factors associated with repeat abortion in an international context and then analyse a local routinely collected database to explore the determinant factors of repeat abortions specific to the Grampian region of Scotland. Triangulation of the results from the review and secondary data analysis will identify those factors that are common as well as unique to Grampian. Factors that are implicated in the literature but not recorded in the Grampian database will be recommended for inclusion in future collection of data. The report will inform sexual and public health policy in Grampian to tackle repeat abortions and help to design personalised individual woman based abortion services.
