Research summary
The study is a UK iteration of a multinational study between the UK and the USA, collecting data independently, to pool into a joint dataset for analysis. Up to 50 participants with foot ulcers and requiring a removable cast walker will be recruited from clinics; where during normal care, selection of cast walker is normally unstructured, participants will be instead allocated the type of cast walker randomly out of the 2 treatment arms. Participants will then be followed up during their usual care, and assessed via questionnaires, surveys, wound tracing, activity monitors. Participants will also attend a single visit to a motion laboratory at Manchester Metropolitan University; during which their mobility will be assessed. This study will therefore assess the efficacy of the 2 removable cast walker devices in order to inform future prescription.
