Research summary
Why?\nWe are trying to find out if individuals with suspected coronavirus (Covid 19) with mild symptoms or returning from a high-risk area would benefit from continuous monitoring by wearing a wear-able sensor during isolation/quarantine. This would help to identify people who may deteriorate allowing for appropriate medical treatment. \n\nWhat?\nWe will ask you to wear a light, disposable, waterproof, wearable sensor on the chest. It has a battery life of 5 days so will be changed appropriately for the duration of quarantine. You would not have to actively do anything to the sensor. We will also ask you to complete a short questionnaire about the sensor. \n\nWho?\nAll participants who are returning to the UK with mild symptoms suggestive of coronavirus or returning from high risk areas, requiring quarantine but unable to isolate themselves can take part in the study.\n\nWhere?\nThis study is being conducted at a designated area (e.g. hotel). \n\nThe aim of this trial is to explore remote monitoring and wearable sensors in people with suspected Covid 19. We will use the results to develop escalation/treatment protocols for deteriorating quarantined individuals detected through remote monitoring and wearable sensors. \n\nWe also want to investigate the healthcare related outcomes of these technologies for individuals who become unwell and develop a framework in tackling epidemics/pandemics in the United Kingdom which can be used in similar future scenarios.\n\nData are intended to be used as part of a PhD thesis and be published as one or more quantitative and qualitative papers.
