Research summary
We are proposing a study to understand how people have been affected, both mentally and physically by living through the COVID-19 pandemic. We will explore the experiences of people who have had COVID-19 and as a result have been critically ill and needed support for their breathing with a machine. We aim to interview twenty people by telephone/online, or face to face if possible, after they have been discharged from the hospital to find out how they have been affected both emotionally and physically, and to explore the support required to become well again. Our results will be used to support the decision-making of health and social care teams involved in long-term planning of those who need rehabilitation after they have been critically ill with COVID-19.
