  • Research summary

This study investigates whether a procedure of ultrasound-guided autologous blood injections (ABI), (an injection of a small quantity of the patients own blood to an area of damage to the plantar fascia), and the technique of which includes a dry-needling component within the overall procedure, has any measurable clinical benefit over ultrasound-guided dry needling alone for patients with chronic plantar fasciitis.

In this study, half of the enrolled patients will undergo the ABI procedure that is already being carried out for this condition in Dr Wheeler's clinic, the other half will have a procedure of an ultrasound guided dry needling only of the plantar fascia but without the injection of the blood to the fascia.

In addition to the procedures both patients will undergo the same rehabilitation programme.
