Setting: For parents of children aged 0-3 programmes provided by venues associated with Health visitors such as GP practices or Children’s Centres and community centres.

Participants: All parents of children aged 0-19 years who are resident in Sandwell and are associated with a Sandwell based health visitor or school.
Intervention: A set of parenting programmes aimed at parents with children of specific age groups and parents with more than one child within different age groups.
    Main outcome measures:
The key is to show the improvement in attachment and bonding between the parent and the child following the parenting programme.
For older years the need of the evaluation is to show an improvement in behaviour which is conducive to reducing the stress of the parent or improving academic performance.

For child outcomes: Eyberg child behaviour inventory, frequency and intensity subscale, Dyadic Parent interaction child scale (DPICS), school readiness. For parent outcomes are: Parent ability to cope, knowledge, self efficacy and behaviour. These will be measured in the short term and long term.
    Suggested secondary outcomes:
Suggested areas are; enhance school achievement compared to control. Decrease Anti Social Behaviour, arrest rates for criminal damage/assault/crime compared to control. Improvement in use of primary care services. These will be measured in the short term and long term.
Quality outcomes: which parts of the programme parents felt were beneficial. The timing of the sessions, attrition to the programme.
