Research summary
The aim of this specific study is to explore how to present health data (e.g. activity, sleep, mood) in an understandable way to users within a smartphone app. We would like to run a series of focus groups to gather this information. People who have a diagnosis of MS, epilepsy or depression, living in the UK, who are over the age of 18 and able to understand what the study is about will be eligible to take part. Each person will be invited to attend a focus group in person, where they will consent to take part in a discuss with others on the topic of how to present data visually in a smartphone app. As part of this discussion the group will be shown examples of smartphone apps designed to display health data and asked to say what the do and do not like about them. They will also be asked to complete a short questionnaire about their demographic characteristics and health status. A researcher will lead the focus groups and be available at all times to assist with completion of the questionnaire. This session will last for approximately 90 minutes. After the discuss group, a researcher will extract themes from the discussion and participants will be given an opportunity to make final comments on them.
