Research summary
Only 10% of patients who suffer out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) survive to hospital discharge, and those who do survive may have a significantly impaired quality of life (QoL). This study aims to identify the best quality of life measure in survivors of OHCA. Prior to hospital discharge patients who have survived OHCA, or a carer of the patient if they lack capacity, will be approached to obtain verbal consent to contact them and visit their home after six months. During this six-month visit a verbal explanation of the study will be given and written materials will be left. The participants will be contacted by phone to confirm their agreement to proceed with a second appointment. At this second appointment written consent will be obtained and the participant will take part in a semi-structured interview discussing quality of life tools, and preferred methods of administration.
