  • Research summary

Recruitment to the OVIVA trial had been unexpectedly difficult and, despite the instigation of multiple strategies to facilitate participation, the trial had to request an extension.
Qualitative methods are increasingly being used to understand issues concerning poor recruitment, since they provide an ideal approach for exploring the underlying motivations and reasons behind behaviour. This study hopes to identify common themes arising from the recruitment process, and site set-ups, by interviewing patients and collaborators.
Patients who have been recruited onto the OVIVA Study, will be approached in their routine outpatients follow ups, and given the invite letter and information sheet. Collaborators will be contacted by email.

Semi-structured questionnaires will be used and one-to-one interviews, either face-to-face or by telephone.
