Research summary
This study proposes to undertake phenomenological research in order to investigate the lived experience of patients suffering from the rare ulcerative condition known as Pyoderma Gangrenosum. The study aims to identify common themes which collectively identify the phenomenon by selecting a purposive sample of 10-12 participants, from the current caseload of an Institute of Dermatology in South Wales. The data will be collected via semi-structured interviews. In order to accomplish this participants will be invited to tell their story of the condition. These stories will be audio recorded and transcribed to allow interpretation. The content of these stories will encompass rich descriptions which will be analysed using an interpretative phenomenological approach.
