Research summary
This study aims to identify what psychological factors help or hinder obese patients lose weight when they have sought support with lifestyle change through a NICE recommended multi-component programme. The proposed method is to analyse routinely collected clinical data about the patients’ wellbeing, psychological functioning, quality of life and health symptoms. Because these data are collected at the beginning and end of treatment it is hypothesised there will be identifiable factors that can help explain successful completion or drop out.
