Research summary
Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) is a pain management therapy that uses electrical impulses to block or reduce the amount of perceived pain, typically chronic, neuropathic pain. Permanent SCS systems are comprised of leads placed in the epidural space of the spine and an implantable pulse generator (IPG) which is placed in a shallow pocket just under the skin. The patients, by means of a mild electrical current, experience mild tingling or paraesthesia. This study will retrospectively collect clinical outcomes from a large, global patient base over a long period, thereby contributing to the evidence base evaluating the clinical effectiveness of SCS in long-term clinical practice.
