Research summary
This will be a pilot study of the prevalence of Vitamin D deficiency with a target figure of 100 to establish the future feasibility of routinely measuring and treating any identified Vitamin D deficiency and studying the impact this could have on a patients mental health.
As a baseline measure, alongside the Vitamin D sample being taken(in the form of a blood test), a Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADs)would be completed by the patient to establish whether there is any correlation between Vitamin D levels and scores on the HADs.
The study would involve testing successive patients who consent in an outpatient clinic and would therefore allow exploration of the association between Vitamin D deficiency and a variety of mental health disorders (previously only depression has been focused on).REC name
