Research summary
A retrospective exploratory data-based study exploring the prevalence of anaemia and haematinic deficiency in patients listed for major joint surgery at Homerton Hospital over a 18 month period. Pre-operative data (such as ASA status, height, weight, sex) and blood results will be analysed. The results would be compared to other similar studies. We hypothesise that with new definitions of anaemia, the prevalence will be higher in our local population than other previous studies.
