Research summary
Study is a mixed qualitative and questionnaire study involving interview of 10 children age 6-10 years with Tics and Tourette syndrome recruited from the community paediatrics outpatient clinic including the ADHD clinic. The aim of the study is to assess language used by younger children with tics to describe premonitory urges . The responses will help in designing age appropriate behaviour interventions for management of tic disorders in children younger than 10 years. Questionnaires will be administered to parents to understand the severity of the child’s tic disorder. Children will also be administered questions on the PUTS scale ( Premonitory urge for Tics scale). The responses from the qualitative study with the children will be audio recorded and then analysed. Responses of the children on the PUTS questionnaire will also be analysed. There are currently no similar studies available in the literature hence study will provide useful information for treating children with Tic disorders.
