  • Research summary

Young doctors provide worldwide the frontline clinical care for COVID-19 patients with an awareness that the vast majority of infected populations is young and that clinical course of the disease in this cohort is unpredictable with up to 40% of severe presentations. Given the lower level of professional experience, frequent exposure and the lack of thorough data on the infection in their age, young doctors are particularly vulnerable to stress related psychological disorders induced by COVID-19 pandemics. \nThe aim of the project is to assess the range, clinical course of the COVID-19 and the psychological burden of the pandemic defined by the level of stress, anxiety and depression among the young generation of doctors worldwide with identification of the risk factors in those who developed psychological suffering.\nThe project is investigators-initiated study, based on network of young cardiologists from UK, Europe, US and Mexico.\nThe project will be performed as a survey, dedicated to doctors below the age of 40, including trainees, working clinically all over the world during the COVID-19 pandemic. \nAA link to the survey will be sent by direct emails to doctors - coordinators of the project as well as target workers of the partnership centers and registered members of the partnership Societies, who fulfill the criteria of age. The link will be subsequently spread by social media channels to the international communities of young doctors.\nCollected data will help to define: the rate and clinical course of COVID-19, the level of stress, anxiety and depression among young doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic, the risk factors of the emotional distress mainly based on demographics, redeployed work environments, the appropriateness of work organization, prior education and training in protective measures and possibilities to influence the work organization during the pandemic.\nParticipation in the survey will be voluntary. All responses will be anonymized, and no sensitive information will be requested.
