  • Research summary

The purpose of the study is to determine whether a polygene-based algorithm will enable the identification of individuals at greatest risk of weight gain in the early stages of psychosis.

The study will combine existing data collected as part of routine clinical care, including weight change, medication dose and duration of treatment with a DNA sample collected by mouth swab.

If we successfully determine the value of a polygene-based algorithm in this context, consideration can be given to the use of weight neutral pharmacotherapy and lifestyle modulating strategies in this group.
