Research summary
This study is a pilot study to look at the effect of administering d-cycloserine (a medicine) to enhance exposure-based cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) in the treatment of adolescents with obsessive-compulsive disorder. The study will randomly allocate participants to one of two treatment conditions; either CBT plus-cycloserine or CBT plus a placebo pill. Treating clinicians and researchers will not know which participants will receive d-cycloserine and which will receive the placebo pill. Treatment effects will be carefully evaluated in order to determine whether d-cycloserine is successful in enhancing the success of cognitive behaviour therapy in adolescents.
