Research summary
All patient's bodies removedrugs at different rates and this affects what the correct dose for a patientwill be. For many drugs for adults the differences are small enough that onedose can be recommended for everyone. The younger patients are the bigger thedifferences tend to be. For very youngbabies a different dose is needed for each patient. This study seeks to findout if the differences between babies' rates of removing a drug, which theyalready get in their treatment, can be predicted in advance. It is hoped thatsuch a method of prediction will lead to a better way of calculating thecorrect dose for babies needing this drug in the future.
