Research summary
This study is being conducted to find out what diabetic foot patients think about phage therapy. Phage are viruses that kill bacteria, not drugs. Little is known about patient perceptions of phage therapy and this study will help fill this knowledge gap. Patients with past or present diabetic foot ulcers who are registered with NHS Research Scotland Diabetes Network (NHS RSDN) or are seen at clinics at the Royal Infirmary (Edinburgh) or Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Glasgow) during an eight-week period will be eligible. Both the Royal Infirmary (Edinburgh) and Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Glasgow) will offer surveys to patients in clinics and host up to two one-hour focus groups – open to survey participants only. As such, both will be research sites. NHS RSDN patients will be offered an electronic survey only and will not be asked to participate in focus groups.
