Research summary
There is consistent evidence that pregnancies following IVF/ICSI have higher incidence of antenatal and intrapartum complications during pregnancy. There is paucity of data specifically outlining perinatal outcomes in IVF/ICSI according to onset of labour. There is no national or international guideline or recommendation for intrapartum management of pregnancies following IVF/ICSI. Our objective is to evaluate peripartum outcomes for IVF/ICSI pregnancies compared to naturally conceived pregnancies in relation to onset of labour.
We are planning to carry out a comparative retrospective cohort study.
We will use anonymised hospital record data (2013-2017) to compare delivery outcomes of singleton IVF/ ICSI pregnancies with singleton naturally conceived pregnancies. Analysis would be performed for mode of delivery including cesarean sections and operative vaginal deliveries in both the groups. Also to find out difference between maternal and fetal complications including postpartum haemorrhage, meconium stained liquor, neonatal intensive care admissions.REC name
