  • Data collection arrangements

Clinical data which is collected from individuals undergoing normal clinical care in the pelvic neurophysiology clinic will be entered into a research database. There is very little knowledge about abnormalities of the pelvic nerves and how to evaluate altered pelvic sensation, or bladder emptying difficulties. There is increasing awareness of these symptoms, and this is the only clinic in the UK fully assessing the clinico-neurophysiologic profile. Collecting this data in a research database will aim to increase the knowledge and improve future care provision in the assessment, diagnosis and longer term outcome.

  • Research programme

As yet, there is no current research programme, however with approval of the research database we will firstly review individuals with pelvic numbness and their pelvic neurophysiology results to identify if there are different clinical phenotypes.
