The COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) virus can cause disease in animals and humans, ranging from the common cold to serious respiratory illnesses. Since it first reports of COVID-19 in Wuhan, China rapid transmission and deaths were seen across more than 90 countries and resulted in the most significant pandemic of a generation. COVID-19\nPreparedness and response planning for pandemic such as COVID-19 often involves difficult and ethical challenging decisions which are shaped by the local context and cultural values. Paramedics are in the front line response to the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic, and research may improve our understandings and response to such future pandemics. \n\nThis study will take place between 2020–2021 in one UK ambulance service covering a population of three million people. We will be collecting data following Grounded Theory Methodology GT, which gives a picture of what people do, what their prime concerns are and how they deal with these concerns. Paramedics will be interviewed over the internet service Skype™, which will be recorded, transcribed and analysed. Finally, theoretical accounts will be prepared and presented in publications, policy documents an conferences. \n
