Research summary
With the increasing demand on primary care for same day appointments, GP practices are finding their appointment systems under inordinate pressure. Denburn Medical Practice has recently implemented a new telephone appointment system (Doctor First) produced by Productive Primary Care Ltd, a private company working with the NHS to help GP practices identify areas for improvement in their appointment systems. The company’s own research shows that Doctor First has had very positive feedback from practices already using the system however the question remains unsure as to whether or not the system is preferred by patients to the traditional appointment system and the reasons influencing patient satisfaction. This project aims to use a questionnaire to assess patient satisfaction with Doctor First in Denburn Medical Practice. This research will last 8 weeks and be carried out in Denburn Medical Practice by a medical student as an elective project. It will involve all patients age 16 or older and all parents/guardians of children age 12 or younger. Those who complete a questionnaire will be included in the study.
