Research summary
The research is the first of its kind exploring patients’ perspectives of weight regain following gastric bypass. Patients who underwent a gastric bypass procedure in order to lose weight at least 2 years ago and have regained 10% of the total weight lost will be invited to participate. The research will be a qualitative enquiry using individual interviews for data collection. Approximately 10 participants will be interviewed as part of the research. Interviews are anticipated to last approximately an hour. In addition to their experience of weight regain, questions will focus on patient views of causes and potential treatments / management. Interviews will be transcribed and a thematic analysis employed to develop themes. It is hoped that the information elicited will highlight the problem in question and feed into the development of services for this group.
