Research summary
Using a phenomenological framework, this study aims to explore the lived experience of having a venous thromboembolism (VTE) (a blood clot in the venous system, commonly in the legs or lungs) in pregnancy or the 6 week period after giving birth. Women diagnosed with a VTE at King's College Hospital in the last five years whilst either pregnant or in the 6 weeks after giving birth will be invited to a semi structured interview at which they will be encouraged to tell their story in their own words. The aim is to gather rich data that represents the phenomenon being studied. The data will be analysed using Giorgi's method.
