Data collection arrangements
As part of our standard practice, patients who have undergone partial knee replacement have been asked to complete a set of standardised, validated knee outcome scores during their post operative period at standardised time points. We would like to collate the scores that patients have completed and assimilate them into a database to allow evaluation of patient outcomes. Patients have been invited to complete scores pre-operatively, at 6 months, 1 year and 2 years post op. We intend to collect scores again at 5 years and 10 years. The data, which would be held in the database, would include name, date of birth, email, telephone number and the knee scores at the various time intervals.
Research programme
The information collected and stored within the database could be of value to assess factors potentially influencing patient outcome in the post operative period. This information can support patients with severe knee arthritis by offering evidence-based guidance to select the most appropriate knee replacement option.
