Research summary
This study will investigate perceptual bias. Specifically we will be investigating the ability of participants to estimate the distance to a target in the real world as well as estimating effort in association with monetary value in a computer based effort task. We will be recruiting two groups of participants, these include: healthy (aged and sex matched controls)and persistent pain (as defined by a specialist physiotherapist within the INPUT pain management centre or the Pain Management Clinic (PMC), St Thomas' Hospital.
We will be investigating whether participants who have experienced different durations of pain estimate distances and effort differently to an age age and sex matched control group.
