Research summary
For patients with renal masses undergoing robotic surgery, of high importance are the diagnostic accuracy of their pre-operative biopsy, the achievement of optimum per-operative outcomes, and the absence of tumour recurrence. However, there are few large studies on these patients in the United Kingdom. Therefore, this study will enrol patients undergoing robotic partial or radical nephrectomy at our institution for suspected malignancy 09/09/2013-09/09/2023. Primary outcomes will be concordance with between pre-operative renal biopsy and surgical pathology and for partial nephrectomy patients, achievement ofthe ‘trifecta’ of warm ischaemia time =<20 minutes, negative surgical margins and no complications <30 days post-operatively. Secondary outcomes will be 3 year tumour recurrence rates.
