  • Research summary

There is a theoretical risk that the nasal mucosal dryness caused by oral retinoid medications may increase the risk of patients becoming infected with Covid-19. In March 2020 we established a database of our patients on oral retinoid medications. We will now examine those patient records to identify whether, in comparison to a population with similar characteristics who were not taking oral isotretinoin, 1. patients on isotretinoin had a different rate of Covid-19 infection, 2. patients were admitted to hospital more or less frequently, 3. patients were admitted to ITU more or less frequently, 4. whether death occurred more or less frequently.
