  • Research summary

This is an observational study of ophthalmic complications in patients with COVID-19 who require prone ventilation. We are interested in this for two main reasons. Firstly, visual loss following prone positioning is recognised to occur in spinal surgery. Secondly, eye care is also an important and often under-recognised part of patient care in the intensive treatment unit (ITU). We will therefore be collecting data on ophthalmic complications through examination and fundus photographs to define the incidence and risk factors for complications related to the surface of the eye, eye pressure and fundus.
