Research summary
Weight loss surgery can be an effective treatment for obesity, but patients have to make lasting lifestyle changes to achieve a good outcome and most face years of emotional and practical challenges. This is a follow-up study of all patients who had weight loss surgery in Grampian between 2004 and 2011. It will examine patients subjective experiences in the years following surgery and physical and emotional outcomes measured using standardised measures. It will help to inform the development of services to support future patients after surgery.
