Research summary
One of the many challenges facing clinicians who work with adults with neurodevelopmental disorders is distinguishing between two different neurodevelopmental disorders that are often difficult to distinguish, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder ASD. Currently assessments and diagnoses used to distinguish these two different disorders in adulthood are based on self-report questionnaires and often some basic neuro-psychological tests. However a research team at the University of Nottingham have created a computer based test which uses whole body movement and facial expressions that may be unique to ADHD or ASD in adults, as a way of distinguishing whether a patients main difficulty is ADHD or ASD . This study is the first test of this new computer based test and will aim to see if the test is as accurate as traditional clinical assessment and diagnosis
