Research summary
The COVID-19 pandemic represents a global healthcare crisis. Therefore, there is an urgent need for research into the disease. Data from China and Italy suggests that those with cardiovascular disease are at heightened risk from COVID-19. Further experience with COVID-19 may inform the clinical situation, and a greater understanding of the predictors, pathological mechanisms and outcomes of COVID-19 associated LV dysfunction may elucidate possible treatments. We therefore wish to describe the full spectrum of cardiovascular injury and elicit mechanisms underlying new and worsening CV disease in the clinical course of COVID-19. We will do this by collecting data from blood tests and other clinical investigations.
