  • Data collection arrangements

The Nottingham Digestive diseases Databank aims to collect health related data on adult patients with disorders of the digestive system including liver disease and data from healthy volunteers.
We plan to access routinely collected NHS data from medical records such as details of the digestive/liver disease and medical history and also basic demographic data such as age, sex, lifestyle habits i.e. smoking & alcohol and BMI from patients and research participants that have taken part in any of our research studies.

  • Research programme

The Nottingham Digestive Diseases, Biomedical Research Unit(NDD BRU) is an NIHR funded biomedical research unit. We are the only joint gastroenterology/hepatology BRU in the UK and our research is based on diseases of the gastrointestinal (GI Tract) and liver (hepatology),with focus on the causes of disease, the factors involved and how we can improve diagnosis. The primary aim of this collection is to provide data to the clinical researchers currently within the Nottingham Digestive Diseases, BRU. The information will be used by these researchers in future health-related research studies & will be used for research into the factors that affect health and illness in populations.
