  • Data collection arrangements

Data collection will be undertaken with participant consent including the completion of basic demographics, blood results and past medical/cardiac history as well as imaging data from cardiac MRI. Further information will be collected from participants and health records at designated time periods. Data stored will be pseudonymised with initial access to those members involved in the research. Pseudonymisation key is available only to local research teams. A form containing data to be collected is attached (CRF).

Participants are identified either prior to, at time of OR shortly after attending a clinically indicated cardiac MRI. Active recruited with a written/verbal/digital consenting processes will occur. Some data will be collected from the participant with the majority collected from patient NHS health records.

  • Research programme

The population researched are those with ischaemic heart disease and evidence of heart scarring. This is a common condition that comprises a signficant cause of death in the world with many people living with this condition in UK. Currently, there is a lack of data easily available for research in this cohort with paired imaging and clinical data. This database will help provide access to a large prospective dataset of good quality paired clinical and imaging data for the use in future research including (but not limited to) predicting risk factors of death, heart rhythm disturbances and allow artificial intelligence model development. Furthermore, this database will support research undertaken at Nottingham University Hospitals where the applicant currently holds an MRC CARP grant for research into heart scarring and rhythm disturbances.
