Research summary
Integrated clinical and genetic data from patients diagnosed with cancer at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hopsital (NNUH) will be stored. Clinical data is already stored on the Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset (COSD). Currently no genetic data is stored and we want perform targeted gene sequencing patients diagnosed with cancer and combine the genetic and clnical data on a new database, which can then be anonomysed and released to researchers. The genetic data stored will consist of 453 gene defects known to be associated with cancer (please see the appendix in the proposal enclosed with this application for a comprehensive list of the current genes). This gene panel is likely to change as our understanding of the genetics of cancer increases.
