Data collection arrangements
Data on neonatal intubation events (general demographic data, events around intubation and outcome data) and difficult neonatal intubations (general demographic data, events around intubation and outcome data) will be collected prospectively to capture information on intubation and difficult airway events. Data will be collected using Redcap and no additional information will be sought from patients, service users or care records. There will be no patient identifiable information obtained.
Research programme
This prospective registry will record neonatal intubation practice (initially within the Northern Neonatal Network but possibly later across the UK) and aims to capture difficult airway events. The datasets generated will provide the first prospective UK-based, benchmarking data around occurrence, impact, and proficiency of execution of neonatal intubation, and data about the rarer 'difficult airway' events in neonates. In time, it could provide information about the impact of high level training policy changes on this critical neonatal intervention.
