Research summary
This study will explore the acceptability and experiences of persons with dementia and their carers to a home-based music therapy programme. Suitable dyads will be identified by South Tyneside Older Adult Treatment Team. The researcher will meet with dyads and provide safe introduction to research exploring process consent through music therapy taster session. The researcher will then work with the dyad to tailor a music therapy programme flexible to dyads' needs and individual preference to be utilised over a 12 week period. Data generated will include researcher field notes, care partner diary (monitoring musical experiences) and semi-structured interview focusing qualitative experiences and acceptability of music therapy sessions.
