Research summary
In this brain imaging study we aim to detail the geometrical characteristics of the compression by a blood vessel and look for size abnormalities of the main areas of the central nervous system looking after sensation like touch and pain in patients with classical trigeminal neuralgia (TGN) and persistent idiopathic facial pain (PIFP) and correlate those findings to pain descriptors and clinical examination findings on a questionnaires specific for patients with TGN and PIFP as well as more detailed examination finding from quantitative sensory testing (a battery of test looking a detection and pain thresholds to light touch, mechanical pressure, temperature and vibration sense.
