Research summary
This is a mixed-methods longitudinal study with three weeks data collection to evaluate the Vinehealth App’s impact on anxiety, well-being, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and condition self-management in cancer patients during COVID-19.
We will recruit 40 adult patients with any tumour type being considered for or receiving systemic anti-cancer therapy from Royal Marsden Chelsea and Sutton Medical Day Units (MDU) in April 2020.
All participants will be provided access to the Vinehealth Mobile App platform free-of-charge to use for information and support. They will complete the questionnaires detailed above (GAD-7, FACT-G, WEM-WBS and EQ-5D-5L) at baseline and at three weeks and may take part in a semi-structured telephone or video call interview at three weeks. Participants will also have to provide their email address to register for the app and allow Vinehealth to identify their app usage as a study participant.
Semi-structured interviews will be conducted to better understand the impact of Vinehealth on patients’ confidence in self-managing their health, perceived feelings of isolation and ability to communicate their perception of the status of their condition will be conducted following completion of the questionnaires at three weeks.
