Research summary
In this research we will investigate if a mobile device application (app) can be used to screen for cognitive impairment. The Mindset4Dementia app has been designed as a screening tool, administering cognitive impairment screening using neuropsychological tests (NPT) with the user interface developed specifically designed for elderly patients. The application uses a conversational user interface to lead the user through a series of questions, symbol modalities test and a novel visuospatial balloon task. The primary objective of the trial will be to validate the Mindset4Dementia application as compared to standard (paper based) NPTs informed diagnosis of memory service assessment which may include MRI imagining, clinical examinations and NPTs such as Addenbrookes Cognitive Examinations. The trial should also determine reliability and performance as predictive of deterioration in cognition.
