  • Research summary

We aim to recruit 20 patients who are HIV positive, currently taking combination ART, and have at least two undetectable viral load. We want to analyse their first-pass morning urine samples for 5 consecutive days, plus 5 more samples over a course of 10 weeks. The small molecules, i.e. metabolites, in their urines will be measured using NMR spectroscopy and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. In this way, we can assess the daily variability in metabolites present in the urine to establish baseline levels in patients who are stable on ART with undetectable viral load.
