Research summary
Is there an unacceptable level of noise in operating theatres during orthopaedic surgical procedures?.
High noise levels can have immediate and delayed effects on personnel.
The area being studied is the orthopaedic operating theatre environment and assessment of noise levels from all sources in the operating theatre during surgical procedures.
It is only the noise emanated from all sources in the operating theatre during surgical procedures, that is being measured. The duration and intensity of the noise can be assessed.
All surgical procedures in an operating theatre are eligible.
The study will be conducted in the operating theatres at Bedford Hospital.
The data collection and study will last for up to 3 months .REC name
