Research summary
Study to investigate and measure the evoked electrical response of the vestibular system and measure the eye responses evoked from stimulation of this system by an electrode array inserted into the semicircular canals under a general anaesthetic in patients undergoing skullbase (translabyrinthine) surgery for excision of vestibular schwannoma (a benign tumour). To improve knowledge of the physiology in humans and prove concept, and optimise electrode placement for vestibular implantation in the future.
