Research summary
Aortic pulse wave velocity (PWV) is a measure of arterial stiffness endorsed by joint societies for the assessment of cardiovascular risk The conventional measurement involves the application of a sensor at the neck and femoral artery to estimate the time delay between the pulse arriving at carotid and femoral arteries. We wish to compare alternative methods for detecting the pulse and processing the captured waveforms to calculate this time delay.
