Research summary
Vaccination of pregnant women is suboptimal with about a third of pregnant women missing out on their routine pertussis vaccination, and more than this missing their recommended seasonal influenza and Covid-19 vaccinations. Maternity services now offer vaccination, but there are huge discrepancies in vaccine coverage across the country and between demographic groups. The MAVIS Study aims to find out how to improve maternity service vaccination delivery and address inequity issues.
This application is for project 3: national survey and interviews with women who recently gave birth (interviews may also include partners). The aim is to explore experiences of being offered vaccinations in pregnancy and what could be improved.
